]]>There is definitely something creepy about hares at times. They've been linked with the occult for hundreds of years, and it's not difficult to see how that may have come about. Here I wanted to play on that idea of the hare as an slightly sinister looking animal, and I used the thick gorse bush to frame the subject.

]]>British red deer are a hardy species, and you really get a sense for that when you observe them in the snow. Here I wanted to get an intimate portrait of a stag in the snow, close enough to see the fallen snow flakes landing on his antlers and fur.
It's rare to get this close to a red deer, and I'm very pleased to have taken my opportunity to get the shot I wanted.

]]>A young fledgeling common tern is fed a fish by it's parent, in an exchange lasting just a second or two. The parent doesn't even land, as it swoops in, passes the fish to the young bird, and returns to the water to look for more. The background may appear to be the sky, but it is in fact the lake, reflecting the amber light of sunset.

]]>This is a Red Kite, from Powys, Wales, show just what huge birds they are.

I was blown away by the agility and control the red kites have in flight. They can switch from soaring and gliding on thermals, to diving, twisting, and turning in the blink of an eye.
They're a fantastic sight to behold, and an amazing experience to photograph.
