Hvanngil Valley Panorama
The stunning Hvanngil valley, in the Highlands of Iceland. A grassy meadow surrounded by volcanos and glaciers. In sight, behind the Hvanngil hut are Stórasúla, Hattafell, and the infamous Eyjafjallajökull.
I took this photo during a four-day hiking adventure through Iceland's interior, called the Laugavegur Trail. Carrying all our gear and photography kit, we trekked up mountains, through glacial rivers, and inbetween volcanos. It was an exhausting but incredible experience. This is my favourite shot from the trip, and it's a mult-shot panorama; stitching together several photos to make one wide-aspect image. The means it has a super high resolution, even at large prints sizes, and it's shape is perfect for filling the kind of wide wall spaces we often have in our homes and interiors.
This image was shortlisted in the Landscape category of the British Photography Awards, the GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the Year, and the ASFERICO International Nature Photography Competition.
