Waves landing on a stormy Icelandic beach, captured using a slow shutter speed. A complex depiction of stormy ocean waves, where fluid movements and varying shades of blue evoke a sense of both calm and intensity. Each layer of water reveals the complexity and random nature of the tides, inviting contemplation on the beauty and power of the sea.
I love how Victorian oil paintings of ships and rough seas capture the movement and power of the waves, and this was my attempt to do likewise. Reynisfjara is a beautiful place on a nice day, and a dangerous one in stormy weather. These waves were easily as tall as me, and they crashed down with immense power, onto the black volcanic sand.
